Listed below is a general design and printing timeline covering Save the Dates, Invitations, and Day-of Stationery. Because the required number of weeks can vary for different types of artwork and production various possible turnaround times have been included.

Counting down the number of weeks until your event is a helpful method when discussing the various steps of your timeline. For example, traditional etiquette guidelines recommend mailing wedding invitations around 8 weeks in advance. Destination weddings, however, may require invitations to be mailed closer to 10 weeks, depending on the location.

In addition to the quote covering aspects of your job decided at our initial meeting we will provide you with a specific timeline based on your event date, when you’d like to mail your invitations, and any other scheduling requirements you may have. We appreciate the careful planning that goes into every detail of your event and how your stationery fits into the big picture.

1. Initial Meeting

5 to 6 months before your wedding or event date is a great time to schedule a meeting for custom invitations. Preparations can be made for Save the Dates once a venue and date have been secured and guest list determined, and mailed (9) months in advance.

2. Design Proofs

Following a signed contract, your first design proof will be ready in 7-10 business days, with additional time reserved for custom illustration and pattern artwork.

3. Printing

General turnaround times for print methods - time it will take for production to be complete once design proofs have been approved: Engraving 4-5 weeks / Foil, Letterpress, Thermography and Offset 3 weeks / Digital 2 weeks. Please go to Print Methods for more information on the unique characteristics of each method as well as additional production services

4. Calligraphy

The in-house calligraphy we offer our clients typically takes between 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the type of calligraphy (e.g. Invitation addresses, escort cards, etc.), and quantities required.

5. Assembly

Once your invitations have been printed and calligraphy completed, it’s also important to plan at least a few days for assembling inserts into envelopes. Information on assembly services can be found on our FAQ.
